See How the Toyota Tacoma Takes on the Top Challengers!

The Toyota Tacoma is a popular and flexile choice in light-duty pickup trucks. Drivers who select this truck enjoy its rugged capability, powerful engine options, and the wide selection of user-friendly technology included in each trim. However, as much as the Tacoma can do, it hardly stands alone in its class. We want to show you all the big advantages our truck has to offer so we compared it to three big-name challengers in its class. Read on and visit Gullo Toyota of Conroe to learn more about our latest Toyota inventory.

Why Drive Toyota?

A key advantage of the new Toyota Tacoma is its position as part of a well-known and reputable brand. Toyota is praised by auto critics and consumers alike for the long-term value, efficiency, and overall practicality of their cars, which is true of the Tacoma truck. This flexible light-duty pickup offers a lot of features for a low starting price and comes built to last over the long-haul. Each Tacoma trim comes loaded with a lot of helpful features to guide you, including new Toyota Safety Sense™ driver-assist safety features. Each new Tacoma also comes backed by two years or 25,000 miles (whichever comes first) of ToyotaCare complimentary scheduled maintenance.

Toyota Tacoma vs Ford Ranger

  • While the Ford Ranger's standard four-cylinder engine might offer a bit more performance than the standard four-cylinder engine of the Tacoma, Toyota's light-duty pickup has key advantages in off-road capability and fuel economy.
  • The Tacoma can travel an EPA-estimated 422 city miles and 485 highway miles before requiring refueling, whereas the Ranger has a cruising range of 378 city miles and 468 highway miles.
  • The Tacoma is also more lightweight than the Ranger, holds more fuel, and has a much higher ground clearance of up to 9.4 inches. The Ranger sits at 8.4 inches off the ground.

Toyota Tacoma vs Chevy Colorado

  • Against the Chevrolet Colorado, the Toyota Tacoma once again has a distinct advantage in fuel economy, being more lightweight and having the ability to travel up to 422 city miles before refueling. The Colorado holds just about as much fuel as the Tacoma, but it falls short in cruising range, traveling 399 miles before needing more fuel.
  • The Chevy Colorado sits at an even lower ground clearance than the Ford Ranger, at 8.3 inches. Whereas, the Tacoma has a ground clearance of 9.4 inches which is ideal for just about any type of terrain.
  • The Toyota Tacoma comes standard with a number of helpful driver-assist safety features through Toyota Safety Sense, including Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Automatic High Beams, and Lane Departure Warning with Steering Assist. These features have comparable apps on the Chevy Colorado, though they are absent from base trim levels and cost extra.

Toyota Tacoma vs Nissan Frontier

  • The Nissan Frontier was recently redesigned, but its base trims still lack many of the comparable driver-assist safety features you will find standard on the Tacoma. The Frontier has comparable features to Toyota Safety Sense, through Nissan Intelligent Mobility, but these features are unavailable on the base trims.
  • The Tacoma proves to be among the most fuel efficient of these three trucks, outperforming the Frontier on the city streets with a cruising range of 422 miles. The Nissan Frontier has a cruisiong range of up to 380 miles and this truck weighs over 300 lbs. more than the Tacoma.
  • Whether heading to work or out on a road trip, we all like to throw on some tunes or catch up on a recent podcast. The Toyota Tacoma makes easy listening even easier with standard Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Amazon Alexa capability. The Nissan Frontier is compatible with Siri, but does not support iPhones and Androids a of recently.
