See How the Powerful Toyota Tundra Takes on the Competition in Conroe, TX

The Toyota Tundra is a powerful and versatile truck with lots of character and performance. At the heart of this full-size truck is a standard V8 performance you would have to pay extra for with most other brands. This truck offers lots of capability and comfort for all your passengers. Let us see how the latest Tundra pickup truck fares against its top three challengers: the Ford F-150, Chevy Silverado, and Ram 1500.

VS Ford F-150

  • Towing:Through its standard V8 performance, the Toyota Tundra can tow up to 9,900 lbs., with special towing packages available to boost capability more. The standard engine of the Ford F-150 gives it a towing capacity of 8.200 lbs.
  • Performance: This standard engine also generates an exceptional 381-horsepower and 401 pound-feet of torque. While more powerful engines come available on the F-150, its base engine generates 290-horsepower and 265 pound-feet.
  • Coverage: When you invest in any new Toyota, you enjoy ToyotaCare benefits including two years 0r 25,000 miles (whichever comes first) of no-cost maintenance. This benefit is not available for the Ford F-150. ToyotaCare also features roadside assistance, with unlimited mileage, whereas Ford's roadside assistance package caps at 60,000 miles.
  • Safety: Through Toyota Safety Sense™ 2.0, the Tundra offers Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC) which can apply brakes and gas automatically to prevent tailgating on the highway. While the Ford F-150 does offer some comparable safety features, its adaptive cruise control feature is absent from base trims.
  • Convenience: For your added benefit on cold or foggy days, the Toyota Tundra comes standard with heated exterior door mirrors. This feature is not available on the base trim of the Ford F-150.

VS Chevy Silverado

  • Coverage: Chevrolet does offer a similar no-cost maintenance package to ToyotaCare, but theirs cuts off at 24,000 miles instead of 25,000. The Silverado also comes backed by 60,000 miles of roadside assistance, whereas with ToyotaCare, mileage is unlimited.
  • Safety: The Toyota Tundra features standard driver and passenger side knee airbags, along with Automatic High-Beams (AHB), Lane Departure Warning (LDW) and Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC) through TSS 2.0. Most of Chevy's comparable driver-assist features come available on select trims of the Silverado. However, this truck does not have knee airbags.
  • Towing: The Toyota Tundra can tow up to 9,900 lbs. and features Trailer Brake Control for maximum efficiency when hauling heavier items up and downhill. The Chevy Silverado's base engine gives it a towing capacity of 7,200 lbs. and its maximum towing capacity is 9,700 lbs. Its comparable trailer brake costs extra.
  • Performance: The base level engine of the Silverado also falls short in powertrain, despite Chevy's reputation for performance. Through its entry-level trim the Silverado generates 285-horsepower and 305 pound-feet of torque, whereas the Tundra's performance generates 381-horsepower and 401 pound-feet.
  • Fuel Economy: The Tundra achieves better long-term fuel economy, thanks to its 26.4-gallon fuel tank capacity. The standard tank of the Silverado holds 24 gallons of fuel.

VS Ram 1500

  • Towing: The Ram 1500 offers some of the best towing of any truck in its class, beating out the entry-level trim of the Ram 1500 which can tow up to 6,150 lbs.
  • Safety: The Tundra provides standard front knee airbags for impact protection and Toyota Safety Sense® 2.0 driver-assist apps, include Lane Departure Warning, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, and Automatic High Beams. TSS 2.0 features have comparable apps on the Ram 1500, but these cost extra. Knee airbags are not included on the Ram 1500.
  • Horsepower: While the Ram 1500 does have some powerful engine options available, its entry-level trim falls a bit short of the Tundra, generating 305-horsepower and 269 pound-feet of torque. Our own full-size Toyota produces up to 381-horsepowerr and 401 pound-feet with its standard V8 performance.
  • Technology: All trims of the Toyota Tundra offer a trial subscription to SiriusXM® Satellite Radio, as well as standard Apple CarPlay®, Android Auto™, and Amazon Alexa compatibility. With the Ram 1500, shoppers will need to upgrade to a more advanced Uconnect system to enjoy Apple and Android pairing. The Ram 1500 is not compatible with Amazon Alexa.
  • Coverage: The Toyota Tundra comes backed by ToyotaCare, which includes no-cost maintenance and roadside assistance. Its standard anti-corrosion warranty also covers the Tundra for 60 months with unlimited miles. The Ram 1500 does not have a no-cost maintenance benefit and its anti-corrosion warranty cuts of at 36 months.
